Project Introduction
The Capital Stadium was built in 1968 and has been in service for 50 years. It used to be the largest gymnasium in Beijing with the most functions and the widest scope of application. At the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games, the Capital Gymnasium will compete in short track speed skating and figure skating.
During the 2008 Olympic Games, the Capital Gymnasium underwent a round of renovation and expansion-the venue was renovated for the Olympic volleyball game, while boxes and elevators were added, and ventilation, broadcasting and other facilities were improved. At the beginning, the owner unit and the designer considered the demand for post-match utilization. The 21 floors in the competition field can be moved, and ice events such as figure skating and ice hockey can be held after the water freezes.
